CYSE 494 -Entrepreneurship -Professional Studies

This course was designed to help students enhance their personal and professional development through innovation guided by faculty members and professionals.  It offers students an opportunity to integrate disciplinary theory and knowledge through developing a profit/nonprofit program, product, business, or other initiative.

Course Overview

This course served as my Capstone course for graduation.  Much of this course was focused on learning how to start a business and create a business plan.  Each week, students were tasked with writing a different section of the business plan.  At the end of the semester, we had a complete business plan.  I gained real-world experience in understanding how to apply my knowledge in developing a new product and evaluate its potential success.  I also learned how to complete all aspects of a business plan which is a valuable skill to have for future endeavors.

We have seen a sharp increase in cyber attacks against small businesses in recent years, especially since the start of the pandemic.  This is largely due to small to medium sized businesses often not having strong cyber policies in place.  Given this issue, I developed a business plan for a software product that would enable small businesses to conduct a cybersecurity risk assessment without the high cost of a private firm.  I have included this business plan below.
